When Ryan's car breaks down late at night in the middle of nowhere, he is picked up by a tow truck driver. Instead of taking him to the nearest town at the late hour, Ted drives Ryan back to his isolated property to spend the night. When morning dawns the plans for Ryan change. Instead of taking him to a mechanic, Ted and his sidekick, Bryce, drive Ryan deeper into the forest where they set him loose and announce that they are going to hunt him down like an animal. Armed with only a hunting knife while the men have guns, a game of cat and mouse and survival ensues. Can Ryan outwit the hunters on their home soil? And will he ever escape the wilderness alive? This is a short story of approximately 14,300 words.

This is a good read. There is nothing "novel" about the premise. It has been done in books, movies and on TV. That said, the book was a solid piece of writing that was a fast paced read. The book was well edited and the errors were few.The description tells it all so I won't rehash the story line. As the tale was predictible and obvious, I could not give the fifth star. However, many will enjoy this read.

Hunted eBook Darren G Burton Reviews
Short story "Hunted" (2011) by Darren G. Burton had an uphill battle from the start because the tale of a man being tricked into being hunted like an animal has been done so many times before. The story had elements of solid entertainment, especially when the main character finally confronts the hunters. However, too many editing problems distracts from the flow. (There even appears to be a page or two missing.) Not recommended.

The story has been done before, but I was interested to read this authors take on it. Unfortunately the plot did not offer anything too new to the familiar plot of man hunting man. I would have rated 3 stars for the story, it was OK, not exceptional, but certainly not bad. The biggest issue for me was the poor editing of the story. Numerous typos and grammar errors are abound in this story. Some pages are bogged down with several errors and it really takes the reader out of the story. I suggest that the author has this book proofread and edited by a third party. Until that time, I would skip this one.
