I really enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and the story line was good. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it.
Ah, the fourth book in a dangerously sexy series, loved it! I think it's fantastic that all the owners of Spiked Roses are getting their own story, and with each book we get a glimpse into a strong, sexy man with a wicked past. This is no exception. A dark, dirty, sexy, which combined make for a fun read! Don't take my word for it, and no spoilers from me, read it for yourself and enjoy! I'm waiting patiently, ahem, for book five ;) Nicely done again, Ms. Hensley!
Alta has done it again. She has written another action packed thrill ride complete with super steamy sex scenes. She continues with the next installment and picks up right where the last one left off. Hot and steamy older gentleman taking care of a young hot woman. It explodes into hot steamy sex and doesn’t let you go until the very end. If only the women in her stories would just listen to her man, there wouldn’t be as much drama. But it makes for such intense reading that I can’t put it down. Great job Alta.
I enjoyed this book and the characters had enormous chemistry, even though there was a huge age difference. There's a slight taboo element, but nothing that there should be trigger warnings for. The concept of the story was pretty unique and frightening when you realize that there's a part of it that's probably inadvertently based on real life. There was a couple of dialogue scenes with Mackalya that were cheesy, but easily overlooked.
This is the fourth book in the Top Shelf series. I absolutely love Alta’s writing and her characterizations. I have read every book in this series and many of her other books. The story is very fast paced and the two main characters are forced together due to some evil circumstances. This is what I would call a sort-of taboo story. Makayla has always considered Alec her uncle but he isn’t a blood relative to her. He has known Makayla since she was born because he and her father have been best friends for years. Alec is part of the management of Spiked Roses Gentlemen’s club. Alec is part of the management of Spiked Roses Gentlemen’s club. And yes, Makayla is a consenting adult. I cant wait for the next installment!
The Top Shelf series just keeps getting better and better. Sometimes I'm a little put off on some Taboo story lines. But with Devils & Rye that was not the case at all. I highly enjoyed this one. Makayla even though she has been sheltered for most of her life by her father seems to be so much more level headed then I expected. I love how the relationship between Makayla and "Uncle" Alec just seemed to blossom. Sometimes there is no denying when you find love or how. Alec is so protective of Makayla. I love that he sees her as the woman she is and not the little girl she was. Even though you don't get much of the Spiked Rose in this one it is just as good. Like the others that came before danger follows. So be prepared for an amazing ride.
Not quite as good as the others in the series. A bit too dark. Not very believable. It's hard to top, or even be equal to book 3, but this one was just off the mark in so many places.
